Giving Thanks
Great Giver of all good gifts, we offer you back our talents, our time and all that we possess. Transform them, along with our lives, into means of your life-giving freedom for all. —Worship in an Indian Context ---------------------------------------------------------- Lord, behold our family here assembled. We thank you for this place in which we dwell, for the love that unites us, for the peace accorded to us this day, for the hope with which we expect the morrow; for the health, the work, the food and the bright skies that make our lives delightful; for our friends in all parts of the earth. Amen. —Robert Louis Stevenson ------------------------------------------------------- O Father of goodness, We thank you each one For happiness, healthiness, Friendship and fun, For good things we think of And good things we do, And all that is beautiful, Loving and true. —Prayer from France ---------------------------------------------------------- Lord, you have given me so much; I ask for one more thing a grateful heart. — George Herbert ------------------------------------------------------------ Gathering our hearts as one let us now reflect on the many things we are thankful for We are thankful: For the opportunity to come together as community to share this meal; We are thankful: For all those who work our land to provide us this food; We are thankful: For the friendships that we have made with one another; We are thankful: For the many perspectives and cultures we experience here; We are thankful: For the opportunities to grow and learn that come our way every day. We are thankful: For the strength and courage within ourselves to make a better life; We are thankful: for all those who strive to create peace, justice and harmony in our world.
In all things we are thankful: So tonight, let us all join together and give thanks. Enjoy your meal.
