All Distress Centre crisis lines are open 24 hours, 365 days a year, including all holidays. Lines are managed by trained volunteers with staff support, backup and supervision available in the call centre at all times. All Distress Centre services are free of charge to the public. Donations are gratefully accepted.

We have five crisis phone numbers available:
Main Crisis & Addictions Line (403) 266-1605 For all crisis and distress issues, for men and women from all walks of life. Teen Line (403) 264-TEEN/8336 Issues of concern to teens and their parents. The Teen Line is answered by youth volunteers from 5pm to 10pm Monday-Friday; noon to 10pm Saturday-Sunday; and by adult volunteers the remaining time. Men's Line (403) 266-HELP/4357 Support for men including issues of domestic violence, relationships and depression. Senior's Line (403) 264-7700 Support for seniors and their caregivers, including elder care, elder abuse and the SeniorConnect program.
Kid's Help Phone
Every day, Kids Help Phone counsellors answer calls and online questions from across Canada. No matter what the problem or concern, our counsellors are there to provide immediate and caring support, information and, if necessary, referral to a local community or social service agency.

The Housing Registry Network (HRN) is a user friendly website that provides people at risk of becoming or remaining homeless, the means to access a varied inventory of low cost rental housing and resources citywide. It also provides a free opportunity for people with space to rent to list their housing options on the network. It is distinguished from other housing registries by its listing of housing options for specialized groups and for its agency compendium.

The Street Survival Guide contains information on where individuals can find a meal, get some sleep and find people to talk to. It lists where to get assistance with a number of things that may be happening in a person’s life.

If an individual needs emergency social assistance with an eviction notice or help to pay a damage deposit please contact a local Alberta Works income support office. Income Support clients should contact their worker to find out whether they qualify for assistance for these benefits.

Provides an overnight shelter for people under the influence of alcohol and other drugs and non-medical detoxification services. Daytime drop-in and shelter services with information about treatment options self-help groups are also available.

The main focus of the Centre is to create a friendly, non-invasive safe and supportive environment as an alternative to the streets and bars, and to provide an atmosphere where personal growth can take place. The Mustard Seed Street Ministry is a non-profit Christian humanitarian organization that has been caring for Calgary's homeless for over 24 years.
